Doctor of Philosophy, Social and Economic Geography
I defended my doctoral thesis in November 2002 at Uppsala University, Sweden. The thesis applied a political geography perspective on rural development, more specifically the EU rural development programme LEADER II. Post thesis defence I have been analyzing and working with rural, municipal and regional development issues, mainly in the inland and rural Dalarna region in Sweden, but since 2009 in the northern Västerbotten region. I have also worked with national and international actors, including research, policy development, evaluations and presentations.
I have been employed at Dalarna Research Institute, Dalarna University and presently at CERUM (Centre for Regional Science) and the Department of Social and Economic Geography at Umeå University. I am member of the Swedish Rural Network’s scientific council, and the Geographic Expert within the European Evaluation Network for Rural Development.
